Your Questions, Answered

  • We offer a range of trips throughout the world - we book the rooms, schedule optional activities a few times a week, and our directors and planners provide guidance before and during the trips.

  • Getting started is simple. Reach out through our contact form or schedule a call—we’ll walk you through the next steps and answer any questions along the way. Then once a deposit is received your spot on your desired trip is saved.

  • We go slow and our groups are small. We do not rush anyone on 6am busses or force you to do the 3 hour hiking tour if you don’t feel like it that day. Our groups are typically 8-14 people depending on the tour.

  • You can reach us anytime via our contact page or email. We aim to respond quickly—usually within one business day. During business hours we will answer the phone’s as well, and if we miss you we will call you right back.

    Business hours are: Central Time 9am-5pm Monday -Thursday

  • We have upgraded rooms available on some tours. These are usually more limited, and can go quickly. We also have an additional person option for when your partner is sharing a room with you.

  • First we have a 10% deposit for all trips. This saves you a spot and books your rooms.

    Next you can either pay the rest in a payment plan of three separate payments. The first payment 6 months in advance, the second 4 months in advance and the last 2 months in advance. OR you can pay all at once at least 3 months in advance, or at time of booking, whichever is closest.

  • We take payments either online through an invoice, which we will email you. It is through Squarespace’s secure payment platform, or you can mail a check in to an address that will be provided if requested.

  • We understand that sometimes things come up which is why we have a flexible refund policy.

    All deposits are non refundable.

    The rest of the bill is fully refundable in full up until 3 months in advance of the start of the trip.

    After 3 months it is 50% refundable up until a week before arrival.

    After a week before arrival it is non refundable except for trips longer than 2 months. If longer than 2 months it is 25% refundable for the percentage of the trip not able to be taken.

    Refunds will be sent by certified mail to your preferred address.

  • While we can give you pointers and help you along the way of applying for a Visa’s and passports, we are unable to do this for you.

    Visas: Many countries are very easy these days for US travelers and can be done online.

    Passports: We recommend you start your passport process as soon as you know you want to travel abroad. If you already have one, be sure to double check the validity dates so it’s valid throughout your whole trip.

  • We understand sometimes things come up. Whether you need to switch rooms or you are wondering where to closest pharmacy is. That’s why our tour leaders are always staying at the same hotel, and have their phones on them. If they are unavailable for any reason, please give us a call, or email and we will help you out as soon as possible. Hotel staff are also available for small things like extra pillows.

  • Our trips are longer than most, which is why laundry is something to consider. Even if you don’t choose to pack light, at some point laundry will need to be done. Starting early in the second week or end of the first week depending on the trip the hotel or we will offer laundry services if desired at no extra charge. Our tour directors will take a bag of laundry to a local laundry mat or the hotel ones, and make sure it is washed and machine dried. If you are particular about what needs to be airdried, or have special garments this will need to be done yourself. We can direct you to the closest options though or you can come with them on laundry day.

  • We do not offer all inclusive. What is included however are rooms, laundry, in tour transport between hotels on trains and cars, scheduled activities, and once a week group dinners.

    Being not all inclusive means you can go to the restaurants you like, take day trips, and book the flight location, times, and class you prefer.

  • If you get sick during the tour our tour leader can help you find a local doctor, or hospital depending on the severity of the illness and what you feel your needs are. We recommend travelers health insurance as we do not cover any health costs.

    Our tours are slow and easy going but if you do need to go home our director can help book your travel. Or if you just need to rest up and can catch up later, our director can help you book a room and give you directions when you are ready. They cannot stay behind though.

    If the tour is longer than 1 month the rest of the tour is 25% refundable if you are unable to continue.

  • Physical Ability: Most of our trips are not ADA friendly as they are in very old cities. Many buildings and towns are laced with stairs and cobblestones. While we would love to take everyone around the world, the ability to climb a few flights of stairs at a time, and to lift yourself into a train are necessary.

    Mental Ability: While we do have tour leaders there to help, most of the time available is free for exploration. Our leaders provide itinerary and addresses for each location with paper sheets, and in email and are available by phone but they will not be there at all times with you. They can help teach you some local language basics like hello, thank you, and yes and no, please and thank you, while introducing you to an area and country, but while exploring this will be up to you. Most places speak some English though.

    If Ill at the time of the start of the trip, we will work with you if you need to come later and meet us in our second location once you are healthy.
